April (აპრილი)(2024)

Standard

This was one of my most interesting MIFF experiences this year. Late Shift (Heldin)(2025)

Standard

This is the second film I have watched in the past week that is an intense and understated drama about the experiences of nurses in hospitals.

Harvest (2024)

Standard
Visual representation of 3.5 out of five star rating

This is such an interesting film by Athina Rachel Tsangari (Chevalier), and something that I appreciated more after hearing her talk in a Q&A afterwards.

The Librarians (2025)

Standard
A visual representation of a four star rating

The Ice Tower (2025)

Standard
A visual representation of a four star rating

I felt mesmerised for two straight hours by this dreamlike fairytale from Lucile Hadzihalilovic. As I was walking out though, there was more than one person who said, “oh I would give that zero stars. I feel sorry that people spent money on it. That was so awful.”

To Kill a Mongolian Horse (匹白馬的熱夢) (2024)

Standard

I will say right from the start, the horse killing of the title is a metaphor.

Adam’s Sake (L’intérêt d’Adam)(2025)

Standard
A visual representation of a four star rating

I love this sort of tense realist drama. This is directed by Laura Wandel and produced by the Daedenne Brothers and you can feel their touch in the understated character driven narrative.
